Training and awareness-raising activities on gender equity and disability have been some of the pillars of the initiative.
As part of International Women's Day, Masisa reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and gender equity through its Diversity, Gender Equity and Inclusion Committee. The purpose of this committee is to create an inclusive work environment to enhance the development and work of its male and female employees, especially in a predominantly male industry.
"Adapting to cultural challenges is essential, and we understand that diversity and inclusion are fundamental pillars for the well-being of the people who make the company's operational continuity and success possible. We are convinced that this committee will continue to open paths and generate opportunities that will consolidate a truly inclusive culture," added Zoraida Cabrera, Masisa's People, Culture and Communications Manager.
The committee began in November 2023 after conducting a study with Incluyeme.com, which, through focus groups, explored the perceptions and experiences of the company's employees with respect to disability and gender. Thus, the study allowed us to formulate new strategies to transform the work environment.
Among the actions that have marked progress, in the middle of last year the E-Learning course on Diversity and Inclusion was launched, reaching a completion rate of 65% in administrative teams and 43% in operators by November.
In addition, a tour was conducted at the Cabrero and Mapal Industrial Complex to carry out a Job Analysis and a Universal Accessibility Diagnosis, with the support of the Cabrero Municipality team, assessing key areas of both plants.
"Diversity and inclusion must be reflected in every action within the organization. In 2025 we will continue with training and projects to promote a work culture where all people have the same opportunities to develop and contribute their talents," said Maureen CarriĆ³n, MASISA's Assistant Manager for People.
The initiative has also promoted training on workplace harassment, sexual harassment and violence, incorporating the guidelines of the Karin Law, as well as the workshop "Awareness-raising for managers on Diversity and Inclusion", aimed at strengthening the commitment to a more equitable culture.
